Not everyone has the time to sit around their home and play video games. However, most of us are able to take a little time out of the day to check out some games on our mobile phones. Games made specifically for mobile phones are on the rise, as are the amount of hours being spent playing them.

People are engaged with these games as they become more complex and entertaining for the player. Most think of them as a great way to kill some time while waiting to get through the things in life that feel like a waste of time. Take for example waiting around in an airport. It can become a lot more fun to do if you have a game on your mobile phone to play to distract yourself from the weight.

The games made for mobile phones are often very inexpensive, in fact some are even available for free. This is largely what has made them so popular. Couple this with the fact that they are always available right there in player’s pockets and it is easy to see why so many tend to favor these games over the other types that they have played in the past.

For serious gamers, having the best gaming machine is more important than being remembered by their moms on their birthdays. So what makes for the best gaming platform? There are pros and cons on both sides of this argument, so here are some key points to keep in mind:

Consoles

Consoles offer a lot of bang for the buck. For $200-$300, console gamers can enjoy some of the best video games available. Consoles are simple to operate and can pump out surprisingly good graphics and system speed for the price. They are a great option for the budget-minded enthusiast who wants something substantial for gaming.

Computers

A fully-loaded gaming computer will always outperform a console, but usually this will be because the owner has paid a lot for it. However, mid-level gaming computers, whether built by the gamer or purchased already assembled, are still a worthy competitor to a console. These machines can cost under $500, can be tweaked to perform according to personal preferences, and can even play console games with the use of an emulator.

Conclusion

A true gaming computer is the way to go for the gamer looking for the best of the best.

Online gaming “communities” are often not the most civil places. Many players seem to forget that they are playing a game. They will lash out via text and voice at the other players on the server, often shouting racial slurs and vague threats. In this situation, the best thing that you can do is to mute the offending player and report them to the game server operators. In some cases, behavior such as this can get the person’s account shut down. You will likely find that to be much more satisfying than having a lengthy and pointless shouting match about someone’s mother over the Internet.

Take time to compliment someone for a good move or a shot well placed. Even a “GG” or “NS,” which stand for “Good Game” and “Nice Shot,” respectively, will be appreciated by other players. Conversely, don’t complain about “camping”, sniping or another player getting the better of you. Calling someone a “noob” is one of the quickest ways to start an inane flamewar. Feel free to call out cheaters and report them to the game operators. However, don’t assume anyone who plays the game better than you do is cheating. Keep an eye on your “ping time”, also known as your network latency. Odds are, you missed part of the action.

Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games, or MMORPG’s for short, have grown increasingly popular as our lives revolve around the internet in this day and age. Gamers have gone from taking several weeks and months to beating a single player game, to being able to do the same thing in a matter of a day in some cases. That has lead to game designers putting more focus onto the online features of games and, at times, publishing an entire game focused around online game play.

The basic the idea behind an MMORPG, play online all the time with thousands of others at the same time for a small subscription fee. With so many players to group with and talk to, there is little chance for boredom. The game developers have put focus into creating challenging content that gets everyone together to defeat.

Players who are in groups of 5, 10, 25 or even 40 have a chance to defeat tough monsters and acquire better armor and weapons for the next challenge. The key to any MMORPG’s success is the player base. Without a good following and comparable challenges, players will move to another game that offers what they are looking for.

Any list of the top ten games of any decade is going to be debatable. This list highlights ten games that have either changed the video landscape or certainly cut their own niche.
1.	The Madden Football Series: Every year, this game becomes more realistic, with clever features and simply amazing graphics.
2.	Rock Band / Guitar Player: Turned even the most talentless of us into a rock star, at least in our own minds. Also put extra money in the pockets of countless bands and songwriters.
3.	The Half-Life games: One of the first “Best-ever” games, this shooter and its sequel set the bar for other games to come.
4.	The Mario Series: The world grew up with Mario and Luigi. The plumbers grew with them, adding weight, momentum and 3-D design.
5.	Halo: Its marketing campaign alone made it a reason not just to buy the game, but to buy a console.
6.	Grand Theft Auto: Yeah, it’s violent and the object is to be a bad guy. But that’s what you want sometimes.
7.	World of Warcraft: Broke all the rules. It’s pay-as-you-go, it’s entirely online and it introduced graphics to a previously geeky world of charts and words.
8.	Mortal Kombat: Another series of games that just won’t go away for a good reason: they’re fun.
9.	The Sims: Truly unique, the Sims gives you a way to escape your life by running other people’s lives.
10.	Resident Evil: Four versions in, this game captures fear in a way no other game can manage.

Online gaming has never been more popular than it is today. From Xbox Live and its hundreds of titles to MMORPGs (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), today’s gaming experience is more likely than ever to be played online with others players.

Headlined by the still hugely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft, PC gaming is experiencing a boom like never before. A new expansion “World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria” will be released in late September. As the biggest online game ever, World of Warcraft gamers can expect new adventures and new goals to reach with this release. Players can look forward to the upcoming “Guild Wars 2″, one of the most highly anticipated MMORPGs ever. During Beta Testing, “Guild Wars 2″ received some of the highest marks possible from hardcore and casual gamers alike.

For gamers interested in jumping right into the action, console gaming has several big titles coming out soon. “Halo 4,” the next edition of the best selling shooter franchise, is coming out this November. “Call of Duty, Black Ops 2″ is also being released in November for both major consoles, thus creating the terrible dilemma of which one of these two surefire hits to play!

Online gaming is one of the most popular ways that people spend their leisure time in today’s society. Many games from the 1970′s and 1980′s proved to be the inspiration that led to the gaming craze of today.
In 1972, PLATO paved the way for multiplayer gaming. A project collaborated by the Control Data Corporation and the University of Illinois, PLATO allowed students interaction with other devices for the reason of education and learning with a computer. Also that year new interfaces were introduced allowing the students to create their own games starting the beginning of multiplayer gaming.
In 1973, NASA developed a game called Maze Wars. Maze Wars helped fuel the developments of server to host gaming. This game also helped in paving the ways in which two computers directly connected in a peer-to-peer type of connection. This peer-to-peer connection showcased computers specifically connecting into a server and the games that specific server hosted by local ports. this server to host connection proved to be integral to online gaming of the future.
MAD was the first game that enabled worldwide connectivity in 1984. MAD was a network based game that was accessible to everyone on connected to the worldwide computer network.
