At least according to Martijn Van der Meulen, a producer on Home. He doesn’t just say something all willy nilly like “Sure, yeah, it’s coming out this year I think.” He’s quite serious when he states, “It is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year.” Not fiscal year, mind you. And he didn’t specify regions (though we’d imagine North America sees the launch of Home before anyone else). Furthermore, Van der Meulen reassured IGN, “I know some gamers were concerned that once Home reached a certain user base, a fee might be applied to the service, but this is not the case. There are no plans to charge for Home, even in the far future.” Now all they have to do is unify your avatar across all games and create one ubiquitous system for all online games and we’ll be on board! Oh, and a price drop would be nice. Get going on that stuff, will ya Sony?
