Everybody has been talking about Brett Favre’s AARP-discounted direct flight from Green Bay to New York City. Unfortunately, EA didn’t get the memo. Their Madden 2009 cover will feature old-man Favre in his Packers jersey. Details on the planned update (and curse) after the jump.
EA announced that Favre’s character will play for the Jets as part of a release-day download that updates the game’s rosters to reflect all recent changes. As a more useless solution, EA will issue a downloadable updated cover, in case you want to print it out and Scotch tape it to the original.
Some assert that this is the most recent evidence of the Madden Curse that assumes instant death or slightly sub-par athletic performance for any player who graces the long-established game’s cover. QP believes in curses, maybe even this one, but this Favre thing is unrelated.
Also coming from EA in 2009: Kevin Garnett in a T-Wolves Jersey and Manny Ramirez with the Red Sox.
