Bomberman Musings Amid WiiWare Resurrections
August 26th, 2008 Features, News

Hudson Entertainment announced today Bomberman Blast, an original WiiWare title, is on its way. It offers up to 8-player online, leaderboards, and Mii support. No mention of a single player experience. The screens look promising, but seriously — let’s stop fooling around. When are we gonna get a solid Bomberman title for the Wii? Bomberman 2 is slated for an early 2009 release for DS, but seems to be drowned in unnecessary RPG elements and Emo-clad fashonista Bombermen. We had Bomberman Land earlier in the year which fell victim to the Wii’s mini-game fucktravfluenza epidemic.

What the fuck is this?! Why the FUCK am I archering (I know) in a Bomberman game? This is not Bomberman. This isn’t even Mario is Missing. Is it just me or was I the only person who thought Bomberman 64 was the pinnacle of the series? Sure, there are dues to be paid to its predecessors, but the open world format and well-crafted environments of 64 created a truly fun and unique Bomberman experience that has yet to be re-created (Outside of its sequel Bomberman 64: The Second Attack). But perhaps maybe the 64 version was only as fun as it was refreshing, and maybe there is still hope for the robot infested death-mazes of top-down Bomberman fame. Whatever they decide to do we need more than this surely meager offering of a WiiWare title to satiate our decade long hunger pangs.
