“Summer of Arcade” Titles Upping the Standard Prices?
July 30th, 2008 News

While Microsoft’s last foray into new pricing schemes on Xbox Live managed to garner some less than happy responses with gamers, it seems as though they’re at it again if a recent post on the Japanese Xbox Blog turns out to be true for North American gamers as well as their Japanese counterparts. Pricing for Geometry Wars Retro Evolved 2 and Galaga Legions falls under the “expected though we’d prefer less” (800 MS points, $10) category whereas arthouse title Braid’s asking 1200 spacebucks ($15) and Behemoth’s latest brawler Castle Crashers is slapped with an 1800 spacebucks ($22.50) price tag.

We’ve seen little-to-no price fluxuation between Xbox Live titles on separate continents in the past so I guess we’ll have to wait and see (no, not really — they’ll almost certainly be just as expensive). As Joystiq points out, you’re looking at $67.50 in spacebucks if the need to play all of these arcade titles grabs you and just won’t let go. And hell, that’s alotta hooch. We’re thinking Bionic Commando: Rearmed will steal enough of our time to forget about all those other gems, how ’bout y’all?
