Harmonix, MTV Games and Electronic Arts issued a press release today announcing the pending release of Rock Band 2, due out on Xbox 360 this September and other systems a little later in the year.
While it won’t have Beatles songs quite yet, developers say the game will be totally compatible with previous downloads and online content. The game also promises more online stuff, a more diverse track list and better instruments– though instruments will still be limited to guitar, drums, and microphone. No Tambourine Hero: Robert Plant Edition…yet.
The big news may end up being that 360 gets it first. If Microsoft’s summer numbers are any indication, it looks like they’ll need the boost come Fall leading into the holiday season.
More RB2 details will be unveiled at E3, stay tuned to our Summer 2008 page for more details (and hopefully a hands-on) in the upcoming weeks.
MTV.com has totally unbiased coverage of the release (we love you Stephen, but your site is owned by one of the development partners — sorry.)
