Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Free Maps Planned For July, Terrorists Underwhelmed
June 28th, 2008 News

The good news: a welcome change for DLC as Ubisoft is offering some content for free. The bad news: the DLC isn’t really anything at all. Ubisoft is recycling one map from Rainbow Six Vegas, Calypso Casino, and adding a night version of Murdertown and CQB Training from Vegas 2. So they’re giving us old content and darker current content…hmmm. It’s really more of an update with a minimal amount of playable content to make you feel like Ubisoft is doing something good for you. Fortunately the aspects of the game they’re updating should make the experience more enjoyable. Check the updates after the break.

The real meat of this DLC comes in the game updates. Ubisoft is introducing more ranks, and A.C.E.S. Any XP you acquired after you maxed out will automatically be applied to the updates. There is also a new optional mode called High Stakes (get it?) where you can tweak different gameplay features. You can turn off aim assistance, limit the HUD, turn off health regeneration, and change the camera for the cover system so that you have to expose yourself to see beyond your cover.

A handy grenade indicator will been added along with a longer detonation time for incendiaries and shorter detonation time for C4. Accuracy for the LMG will be increased as well as scoping time for all sights. They’re also changing rates of fire for some assault rifles, shotguns, and SMGs.

There’s also some minor tweaks regarding spawn points, dead players status, and voice chat within the game. All in all the updates should make the experience better than it already is. We’ll wait with bated breath.
